Roses & Peonies for Foodies Marc & Emma's Wedding at St Helens Church & Eaves Hall

0
0
We loved creating wedding flowers for these two beautiful folks, it really was a spectacular wedding day with a plethora of phenomenal August flowers: Roses, Peonies, Snowberries, Hydrangeas, Love in the Mist,  Lily of the Valley and Astrantia all in heavenly late summer shades, Pinks, Mulberries, Lavenders and muted blues.
We were also looking forward to working with a fabulous wedding team,  the great folks at Eaves Hall, the brilliant Kerry Woods Photography, Sonara Parker mua, Naomi from Hall of Hair and seeing a stunning wedding gown by Anita Masserella & gorgeous shoes by Charlotte Mills and there were some lovely Bridesmaids gowns by Kelsey Rose from Amelias bridal too.
Following our first fact finding mission of our initial appointment, we met up again at FD HQ to talk through their detailed mood board, we discussed their ideas and shared our own, we made some suggestions and made an appointment for them to come back to see a set of sample designs
We presented our beautiful Bride to be with a sample Bridal Bouquet, sample Boutonniere, Ceremony and Reception designs
One of our super tall FD Flower Bombs created as a sample
A sample Rose Boutonniere created for Marc
The Bouquet and Boutonniere were designed to compliment each other
We made a sample Hurricane lamp design
A Posy of fresh flowers to sit on the end of each alternate pew end was also created as a sample design
At last the week of the wedding arrived and a collection of glorious fresh flowers were delivered to FD HQ, we love these gorgeous blush pink peonies
These heavenly 'Victorian Classic' garden Roses were the signature bloom of the wedding.
Classic Hydrangeas with Silver Lace & Bombastic Roses
Sweet Avalanche Roses, Fifth Avenue and Bubbles Roses
Memory Lane Roses
On a very wet and rainy morning Jason & I were over at The Bride's family home to make the presentation of Bridal Bouquets and hair flowers

The bouquet included  such a heavenly tapestry of fresh Roses, Senecio, Eucalyptus 'Silver Dollar' Peonies, Lily of the Valley, Astrantia, Love in the Mist, Snowberries , Sweet Peas and Gypsophilia
We'd made the Bridesmaid's smaller versions of the Bride's Bouquet
I showed everyone how to carry their bouquets perfectly

The hair flowers for each bridesmaid were all individually wired and taped and then tied up in bunches for each Bridesmaid with shoelace ribbon
Naomi the fabulous hairdresser was putting the fresh flowers into the Bridesmaid's hair

The lovely Sonara was busy making our beautiful Bride's face even more beautiful
The Groom's Mum had asked us to dress her handbag with some fresh flowers
The rain continued followed by lightening and thunder but there were slivers of blue sky somewhere on the horizon

By the time we arrived at St Helen's Church a minor 'Northern Miracle' had occurred in the form of a bright blue sky, I messaged our Bridal party to let them know...

We'd framed the front door with two fragrant and fresh Bay trees, dressed with fresh Ivy and ferns around the base of the Bays.
Inside this magnificent Church the Bells were ringing and the fresh flowers decorated the altar and Pew Ends

Our Pedestals framed the ceremony space perfectly, fresh Larkspur, Stocks, Roses, Hydrangeas, Sedum, Snowberry and fresh fragrant foliages and Herbs

Posies of fresh Roses, Hydrangeas, Alchemilla, and Eustoma dressed each alternate Pew End

Outside in the porch we lined up all of the boutonnieres and corsages ready to pin them on their wearers as they arrived

The Groom's Mum's Handbag was dressed with fresh Larkspur buds, Rolled Mentha Rose Petals, Bubbles Roses, Nigella, individually wired Succulent Petals and Astrantia

The Bride Groom's Boutonniere featured a fresh 'Victorian Classic' Rose with rolled "Memory Lane' Rose Petals, Nigella, Rose Buds and Snowberry with Astrantia floret framed with Senecio Leaves and Eucalyptus leaves.
We'd bound the stem with navy blue ribbon

A corsage of Rose Buds, Lime Green Hypericum, Waxflower and Albiflora

Spring Wedding Open Day at Silverholme on the Graythwaite Estate with Special Event TipisTypical Type, massive thanks to  Jenny Heyworth Photography  for providing some beautiful images for this blog post
The Tee Pees couldn't have been set in a more beautiful landscape than here at Silverholme, it truly is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful spots in the world even at this time of the year with no leaves on the trees, no blue sky and just a little precipitation.
We felt it was important in this rustic and authentic landscape to design pieces that fitted with the space, we loved these beautifully texture hearts dressing the doors to the tipi.

Outside the team from Special Event Tipis had erected a naked Teepee, we hung a fabulous foliage chandelier in the centre and the great folks from Typical Type dressed it with lights
This would be a magical setting for a Ceremony

Inside the cosy and warm teepee we'd dressed lots of tables with a variety of different themes all with a nod to The Lake District
More beautiful Images by Jenny Heyworth, we'd created some wild and rustic wedding bouquets to tone with the themes and styles of each table
We'd also made some matching Boutonnieres
Our Enchanted Tree was give a 'Festival' vibe with a fairy twist

The branches were dressed with garlands of ribbons

Around the tipi were lots of little 'Dens' to invite people to sit and enjoy a very different kind of wedding experience

Rustic seed and bulb trays were filled with Spring Crocus, Freesia, Snowdrops, Narcissus, Hyacinth and Tulips all in white

Our tribute to 'Daffodils' by William Wordsworth

This design was a 'Highway Man' inspired design with Horse Shoes on the backs of chairs and the table dressed with carriage lanterns all dressed with fresh flowers

Country Pursuits always a big thing here in the Lakes so this design was a nod to Fishing, Walking and Clay Pigeon Shooting

Toasting Marshmallows what could be lovelier on a very cold spring day

We created some quirky little features like these ladders dressed with ivy and fresh bulbs perfect for displaying your seating plan on

We really enjoyed creating the wedding flowers for Katrina & Scott's big day over at The Daffodil Hotel & Spa in Grasmere, they had loads of ideas, bags of details and a myriad of wedding suppliers involved in their complex plans for their Lake District Wedding Day: Gavin from GJP Photo in Carlisle, The Church Mouse supplied their Cheese Tower, Linda and her team from Sophisticated Events provided venue dressing as did Catherine from The Purple Swan, The Bride's Gallery in Heskin supplied Katrina's Kenneth Winston Gown, Little Mistress supplied the Bridesmaid's Gowns, the fabulous Sonara Parker was responsible for make up & the sensational Agent Smith Band provided the entertainment.
The Mood Board Katrina & Scott had put together included lots of interesting elements the colour scheme of pale and dove grey with navy polka dots and ivory was a perfect match to the slate grey facade of The Daffodil Hotel

Hand crafted Boutonniere bound with polka dot ribbon to match the tie and pocket square combination

Wild & Wonderful Chris & Leanne's Outdoor Wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn

0

Regular FD blog readers please brace yourselves this is going to be one of those mammoth posts with a mega multitude of flower pics, there's just so many and I am, stupidly terrible at editing, I feel so tragic deleting images so I just don't!! apologies therefore for the scandalously ridiculous quantity!

I hasten to add alongside the flowers, sometimes behind them, sometimes wearing them, sometimes carrying them, sometimes just admiring them there are an equally ludicrous number of the most beautiful people and the most gorgeous gowns, stunning suits, beautiful spaces, gorgeous scenery, all in all you can conclude this is without doubt a truly magical wedding...
So our flower journey with Leanne & Chris started way back in April 2016 when we first met up to talk through their plans, other than Sandhole Oak Barn nothing else was booked, so we arranged to meet up again about 6 months before their big day to see their magnificent mood board and hear how things had progressed.

We learned about their unique ideas for a truly beautiful wedding day, copper and slate were definitely featuring, as to was Eucalyptus, relaxed and wild shapes and a Floral Crown were now on the agenda.

By this time too they'd booked some of our favourite wedding professionals not least the amazing Dan Wootton such a brilliant photographer,  Daz & Megan from Typical Type were on board with their really special Edison lights, there was a sensationally simple and elegant Charlie Brear gown from our friends at Mears Ghyll, Salon Glo were looking after everyone's hair and the lovely Katie Bee was going to be making beautiful faces even lovelier, it was great to be working with the fab folks from Top Table again they were providing all of the catering, Mark Ford from Studio 54D would be recording all of the magic, and the brilliant Robin Kershaw from DFC Lancashire was hosting the whole day and providing all of the entertainment, there was a lovely cake by Helen from Say it with Cupcakes and our Bride & Groom were creating their own stationery, lets face it with all of those wonderful suppliers it was always going to be a cracker!!!
We met up again in June for us to present a set of sample designs, an out door wedding was the plan but we needed a 'Plan B' should this not be possible, so we came up with some 'moveable' indoor and outdoor suggestions
A suggestion for the Top Table and Registrars table
Ideas for the guest tables
We made Chris and Leanne sample Boutonnieres and a sample Bridal bouquet

Before we knew it their August wedding was on the horizon, the week before we took delivery of some pretty amazing Succulents that we planned to use for their ceremony and reception flowers
Banksia Coccinea

By the Wednesday before a whole host of interesting and unique materials had arrived in the Flower Design Studio

Poppy Seed Heads

Nigella aka 'Love in the Mist'

Protea Barbigera & Amnesia Roses

Protea Neriifolia 'Pink Ice'& 'Cream Mink'

Viburnum Berry & Protea 'Bridal Blush'

Two days before the big day we had the pleasure of having the lovely Leanne in our studio, we created her floral crown with her, our Shirl wired and taped and I added bits at a time and then tried it on Leanne's head so we could add to it or take away ensuring it was absolutely perfect
In Leanne' s Bridal Crown, we included a huge variety of textures, Berries, Proteas, Grasses, fresh Herbs, Rolled Rose Petals, Thistles and florets in a range of shapes sizes and colours, we made it so it was thinner at the back and more full and voluptuous at the front, we wanted some of the grasses to dance as Leanne moved so we allowed them to be longer.

Perfect!!!xxx

We also made a miniature circlet for the beautiful Flower Girl

The Boutonnieres were also underway
On the wedding morning Jason & I were up and out early the bouquets were all boxed up and the van was loaded
We arrived at Sandhole Oak Barn about three hours ahead of the ceremony time
Leanne's Bouquet really did look glorious, the Proteas really added so much to this gloriously wild and textured design, I'd included lots of fresh Grasses too, the ceremony was always planned to be by the side of the lake, so I really wanted to include some lakeside materials, such as Typha & Chasmanthium Latifolia, fresh trails of Amaranthus and the Sea Holly seemed to be perfect accompaniments too, adding a watery vibe to the otherwise 'dry weather' Proteas.
Our Bride's own heirloom brooch was attached to the handle of the bouquet
I showed the Bridal Party how to carry their bouquets perfectly
The Bridesmaid's bouquets were all unique and individual but created as smaller versions of the brides bouquet

Inside the Bridal suite we fitted the Flower Girls Headdress making it just the right size for her

I have to say this little one really was the perfect Flower Girl carrying out her duties with grace and pride, always a smile on her face and a willingness to help, I could probably hire her out!!! xxxx
Too gorgeous for words!!!xx

The Bridesmaid's were all having fresh flowers in their hair, but done to suit their individual hairstyles, this works best when you have a great hair dresser on the wedding the team from Salon Glo were exceptional.

Dan Wootton was capturing all of the magic, it really is a huge pleasure to work with Dan he manages to create a really relaxed atmosphere and never misses a trick xx
Such a gorgeous gown by Charlie Brear from Mears Ghyll, we adored the simplicity of this elegant gown, it really was breathtaking and our stunning bride had the perfect figure to carry it off xxx

The beautiful Bride's Mum Denise seriously rocking those pj's, I made sure her wrist corsage fitted her perfectly too.

Outside on the lakeside the sun was shining the sky was blue and the scene was set for the ceremony, we found everyone at Sandhole Oak Barn to be hugely helpful, they seemed to thoroughly enjoy the flowers and took a real pride in their venue, it was a huge pleasure to work there.

Posies of fresh flowers decorated each alternate chair lining the aisle

The Registrars table was framed by some pretty incredible fresh flowers, Proteas and Succulents, we designed the Registrars table design to reflect the back drop, we'd arranged the flowers, foliages and grasses in a 'vegetative' style grouped and clustered to mirror the planting around the lake just behind.
Clusters of fresh Proteas, Grasses and Succulents with candlelit hurricane lanterns framed the Registrars table

Copper vessels filled with fresh Succulents were the perfect contrast to the more natural materials
The backdrop to the Registrars table is possibly one of the best I've ever seen
We lined up the boutonnieres ready to pin them on the Groom's party as they arrived

Chris Leanne's super handsome Bride Groom was first to have his rather special Boutonniere pinned to his lapel

The Groom's rather special Boutonniere featured Rolled Rose Petals both Quicksand & Amnesia with fresh Rosemary, Ferns, Thalaspi, Blushing Bride Protea, Rose Hips, Viburnum, Astrantia, Hydrangeas, Eucalyptus and Ivy leaves all bound with copper wire, the design was created as a miniaturised version of his Bride's bouquet
Jason pinned on all of the boutonnieres ensuring each one was positioned perfectly

We loved the ties
Each of the boutonnieres was unique designed to suit the height and build of each Groom's Man and all included a collection of fresh textured materials

In the Bridal preparation room, gowns were on and the headdresses were being attached
This 'Floral Crown' had a feeling of 'Titania' about it, all of the natural flowers and berries appeared as if they could have been picked from the grounds surrounding Sandhole Oak Barn, we'd tied the back simply with shoelace ribbon to add an element of naivety and innocence to the design.

Leanne looked incredible, the Bride's Floral Crown was so much more layered, many elements were used to add facets and layers of interest, with the dancing grasses creating movement and a magical feel, I wish too that you could take in the fragrance of the headdress it really was a heavenly thing, fresh and herby, clean and cool, sweet like fresh cut grass.

Absolutely perfect...

The Bride's Mum Denise looked perfect too...
The Bride's Mum's Wrist corsage featured a beautiful cluster of 'Snowflake' Rose buds with Lacey Astrantia and Thalaspi to match her dress

Outside Chris and his Best Man Mike waited patiently...

Team Bride got into position just around the corner

The Bridesmaid's bouquets matched the blush shade of their gowns perfectly

Too cute for sure...

Oh me oh my, utterly breathtaking!!!

Autumn Pinks & Greys for Yvonne & Martin's Wedding Day at St Peter's Church Stonyhurst & Mitton Hall

This was one of those gorgeous weddings that Jason & I always really look forward to, the reason is simple, we have history, we know the family and we loved them!!! We were lucky enough to create flowers for Yvonne's sister Iza & Jonny's wedding way back in 2012 link, now this is the thing, these beautiful girls are quite 'exacting' some may say 'particular' or even go as far as to say 'fussy'.
Here's the thing with so called 'fussy' Bride's they seriously value all the things we do to make sure we get their flowers just right for them, which is to say they give us a fighting chance to exceed their expectations, you see they ensure that we fully understand what they want, but they appreciate too that we're dealing with a fresh product that has variances, each flower is unique, the shape and shades are altered by the weather, the time of year, they are more beautiful because of this, embracing the naturalness of flowers is all part of the fun, I promise you!!!

We got together with Yvonne and Martin to discuss their gorgeous and super detailed Mood Board, we discovered all of their plans for a magical wedding day, we'd be heading up to St Peter's Church at Stonyhurst College for the wedding ceremony, then over to Mitton Hall for their wedding reception, Yvonne had chosen a gorgeous Morilee gown from Amelias Bridal, Flossy & Leigh were looking after the Hair & Make Up,  the lovely Paul Swift Photography & the team from Marry Me Films would be capturing all of the magic of the day, the Northern String Quartet& Paul Guard would be entertaining everyone and there was going to be a gorgeous cake by Maria Dobson Cakes it really was going to be a magical day...
We met up again with these two lovely folks to present a set of sample designs, created just for them
We'd made a full set of sample bridal designs, including table designs and Church suggestions
We made Martin a sample Boutonniere
We made a sample Bridal Bouquet for Yvonne too

Before we knew it the big day arrived and Jason & I were at Mitton Hall in one of the suites presenting the Bridal Bouquets to our fabulous Bride and Bridesmaids
Yvonne was delighted with her wedding bouquet (phew!!)

The team from Flossy & Leigh were making beautiful faces even lovelier
Jason & I headed off to St Peter's at Stonyhurst College to place the fresh flowers and to meet Martin to pin on his Boutonniere
Inside this truly magnificent Church we framed the ceremony space with two majestic pedestals
We'd arranged fresh Antirhinnums, Roses, Peonies, Lissianthus, Hydrangeas, Roses, Stocks, Larkspur, Ivy, Eucalyptus and Senecio in shades of palest blush pinks, ivory and pearl greys on top of our super tall pedestals

Fresh Vibrant English Botanicals for Cliff & Dani's Gin Infused Wedding Day at St James' Church Whitechapel & Leighton Hall

Epic Posting Alert!!! So be warned this posting is of epic proportions, one of those posts where I've struggled to edit down the images, so much so, I had to ask Jason to help me, he's far more brutal that I am, but he too struggled to 'trash' any of the images, and so dear reader, I leave you with a mammoth post, to wade through, to lose yourself in, to almost smell the flowers therein, ergo, take your time, don't embark on this post unless you have time to enjoy it properly....

Here's the thing, these two are now our friends (as is our way, I do love people you see), we love their taste, particularly in flowers and Gin!! They are the very best of people, who are madly in love and they know exactly what they are all about which was so clearly expressed in their plans for an amazing day!! Cliff is very exacting, he likes things to be done properly and he loves attention to detail, Dani too is a details kinda girl she's also a big flower lover (always a bonus), which is where my problems in editing these pics came a cropper, I didn't want to miss out any of those details we had all worked hard on creating, it'd all been considered you see, nothing left to chance, all i's dotted all t's crossed just how Cliff likes it!!!xxx
~
We loved their venue choices, St James at Whitechapel is a lovely Church we've decorated it before and received a super warm welcome from the ace Vicar and Vergers so we were looking forward to going back.
The wedding Reception venue Leighton Hall set in the breathtaking countryside of Carnforth, it is quite simply sublime and we absolutely adore working with Suzie & Lucy and their fabulous team, the house is majestic, the gardens stunning and the atmosphere blissful, you really can't imagine a more perfect wedding venue...
