This wedding was a labour of love, Jason & I have known Jenni's family for about twenty+ years, Jenni, Natalie & 'Little Timmy' along with our Rebecca & Olivia were the very last children left in 'Late Room' at school every single evening without fail.
Jenni and her family have enjoyed Flower Design flowers for all of their special occasions for more years than any of us care to remember and I have enjoyed making them.  Jenni's fabulous Mum the lovely Ruth & Natalie have attended our workshops & flower arranging classes, so we really know these folks, we know their flower taste, which makes it an absolute joy to get creative for the ultimate family celebration a Wedding!!.
Jenni once promised me that wherever in the world she should get married I would be making her wedding flowers,  she's lived all over the world so thank goodness it was only London!!! It was a massive honour and a huge privilege to be there in London on the biggest of days with a van filled to bursting with glorious fresh wedding flowers!!! Thank you Jenni, Wolf, Ruth, John, Maki, Natalie, Tim, Doris & Wolfgang for allowing us to be a small part of your spectacular day we loved every second of it xxx
~
So this is how our wedding flower story starts... so way back last year Jason & I headed off to London to meet up with Wolf & Jenni, it was lovely to meet Wolf for the first time and discover how well suited these two are, we had a great morning visiting their wedding venues, The Asylum Chapel  in Peckham was completely mind blowing, outside it looks so majestic.
Inside it looks so naked, stripped back and ridiculously atmospheric, we loved it!!!
The stained glass windows provided us with some colour inspiration

We very nearly almost got them to reproduce this pose on their wedding day but you'll have to scroll all the way through the post to see that!!xx
We headed off to Brixton East 1871 to see the venue for the wedding reception and met up with the really helpful and super welcoming Andy and the team
We checked out the space and planned our flower ideas

Jenni & Wolf created a Mood Board and filled us in with their outfit plans, food ideas, entertainment and cake plans
In February Jenni, Natalie & Ruth came in to see a set of sample designs we'd created, due to their seasonality we couldn't show them the Peonies we wanted to include at the end of April but we could show them the general flower vibe we intended, this included a whole host of blooms with significant meaning, more than just a nod to Jenni & Wolf's own heritage, English, Indian, German and Scottish elements were all gathered together to create a magical bouquet...
The sample Bridal Bouquet created for Jenni
The sample Boutonniere created for Wolf
Sample Table and Pedestal designs were also put together
The meal would be including a 'Fondue' so that needed to be accounted for, golden pineapples featured
At long last the big day (for us the longest day) finally arrived, Jenni's bridal bouquet looked scrumptious, I'd included fresh Jasmine, voluptuous Peonies in Coral & Burgundy, Thistles, Heather, Jasmine, Roses, Orchids, Lily of the Valley, Blossom, Helebores, Pineapples, Ranunculus, Anemones, Muscari, Forget Me Nots, Astilbe, Rosemary, Peppermint and Blossom in a rich and vibrant colour scheme.

Jason & I found our beautiful Bridal party at The Windmill where they were all getting ready

The fragrance of Lily of the Valley, Jasmine and English garden Roses filled the air

I showed everyone how to carry their bouquets perfectly

I fitted the Bride's Mum's wrist corsage

The Bridesmaid's Bouquets were all created as smaller versions of the Bride's Bouquet

Next stop was the spectacular Asylum Chapel
Inside we'd set the scene for a magical wedding ceremony
Two of our huge Blossom Pedestals dressed the stage set amid a plethora of chapel candles and fresh fragrant Rose Petals
Two more Urns filled with fresh blossom, Peonies, Roses, Proteas and Jasmine framed the stage sat on the two stone plinths
The aisle was lined with posies of fresh flowers and garlands of Smilax Fern with a scattering of fresh fragrant Rose Petals

Chair Dressing Posies

Our ancient pedestals and urns were filled with tall Peach Blossom, Spirea Blossom, Delphiniums, Stocks, Peonies, Proteas and Viburnum Blossom, the fresh relaxed foliages tumbeled over the sides of the urn

I lined up all of the boutonnieres near to a window so I could see to pin them on to the Groom and his Groom's Men
Each Boutonniere was created uniquely made from the same palette of fresh flowers as the bridal bouquets

Corsages for Maki & Doris

The rather special Bride Groom's Boutonniere featured fresh Muscari, Ranunculus, Rolled Rose Petals, Spirea Blossom, Eryngium Thistle, Helebore, Sweet Peas and Astrantia and was bound with navy blue ribbon to match his navy blue velvet jacket
First to have his boutonniere pinned to his lapel was Jennifer's super handsome Bride Groom Wolf
Best Man Vishal was next

Jason the Best Best Man ever, did a brilliant job

'Tiny Timmy' not so tiny anymore all 6'5" of him!!!xxx

The wedding Bouquet was relaxed, hand gathered styling, I'd included Bumble Bee Orchids, Peonies, Stocks, Stags Horn Fern, Pheasant Feathers, Ivy, Love in the Mist, Anemones, Freesia, Eryngium and Daisies

Mark's Boutonniere included a collection of blooms and feathers used in his Bride's bouquet and then we bound them together with twine to match his suit

This really was a pretty wedding, we've had great fun planning the flowers with these two gorgeous folks and I am going to miss our appointments dreadfully, we met up with Sarah & Michale a few times, firstly to get to know each other a good year or so ago, I loved their plans for their stylish stationery and their ideas for a rich colour palette, they'd booked some great suppliers so we were looking forward to working with Flossy & Leigh Make Up & Hair designers,  Steven Barber Photography and we couldn't wait to see Sarah's Ella Rosa by Kenneth Winston gown from Bride 2 Bee in Prestwich.
We got together again this March to see how their plans had further developed, Sarah & Michael's mood board was beautiful and inspired our ideas which we presented as sample designs at our last appointment in April

We'd created a sample bridal bouquet for Sarah to hold and try out
A sample boutonniere for Michael to try we decided to make the Rose 'slimmer' for the actual day by pinning the Rose so ensuring it wouldn't 'bloom' too much!

A suggestion for the top table design
An idea for the pedestals in church and the guest tables
At last the big day arrived and our Chloe and Tom headed up to the Lakes
Chloe un-veiled the bridal bouquets and handed them to our Bride and her Bridesmaids ready for the all important FD Events Bridal Bouquet carrying lesson

Te Bridesmaids bouquets were created as smaller simpler versions of the Bride's Bouquet

We have had an absolute blast with Claire and her gorgeous Mum Julie, planning the flowers for this glorious wedding day really has been an absolute joy. I do love May weddings, the flowers are always luscious and blousy, all my favourites are in season Peonies, English Garden Roses, Sweet peas, Lily of the Valley, Hydrangeas, Astilbe, Larkspur and so, so much more, this wedding day had them all in a very pretty colour palette; soft blush pinks, rose golds and ivory.
I also love Cartmel it's one of the prettiest villages with the most sensational Church the iconic Cartmel Priory a jewel in our northern crown! and the venue for the nuptials, the celebrations were being held at the equally famous Cartmel Racecourse with the great folks from Campbell & Rowley's  providing some stunning food and event management.
~
We'd met up with Claire & Julie to talk through the mood board back at the beginning of the year, Claire had done a beautiful job including all of the details that were important to her and Craig.
We invited them back to the FD Events studio to see a set of sample designs we'd created just for them, we'd made Claire a beautiful wedding bouquet of Peonies, Roses, Sweet peas and Astilbe

The handle of the bouquet was bound and then tied with twist knots in blush pink

A sample of the Top Table Swag of fresh flowers designed using fresh Roses, Hydrangeas and Sweet peas with gold candlesticks and votives
A spectacular FD Flower Bomb with the conical vase filled with fresh flowers and topped with floral magnificence, we'd suspended some tea light orbs and surrounded the base with rose gold tea light votives

Wainwright's Walks & Lake District Romance for Rachel & Gary's Colourful Merewood Wedding Day

$

The perfect wedding day takes a huge amount of planning and loads of love and support from friends and family, this gorgeous wedding had both planning and friends and family in abundance.
We first met up for an initial appointment months ago, we chatted through lots of ideas but always came back to their love of the Lake District and more importantly the famous Wainwrights walks, they had walked them all and Gary had proposed to Rachel at the top of Castle Crag, their stunning wedding venue The Merewood Country House Hotel overlooks Lake Windermere and is set in the most beautiful grounds, so our plans developed and our flowers became a celebration of their love for each other and the blissful countryside of the English Lake District...
~
Rachel & Gary's fabulous Mood Board complete with references to Wainwright and a plethora of brightly coloured flowers, swatches of Gary's tartan and the pink of the Bridesmaid's gowns were included, we recorded their entire brief in a shared on line document that ensures we're all singing from the same hymn sheet, it includes every detail even a list of their suppliers so that we can follow anything up that needs more detail, we discovered they'd booked the iconic Lake District photographer Tiree Dawson and the legendary DJ Gary Mills so we knew we were in for a great day...
Rachel and her Mum Andrea & Bridesmaid Verity came in to our FD Studio to view the sample designs we'd created, including a voluptuous Bridal Bouquet of English flowers, bound in Gary's own tartan

We'd made a rather splendid Boutonniere including lots of the lovely elements used in Rachel's wedding bouquet
A suggestion for the Top Table Design
Ideas for the centre of the guest tables including Gary's prize volumes of Wainwrights walks

The Big day arrived and Jason headed out bright and early to present the wedding bouquets
Our gorgeous Bride the lovely Rachel loved her wedding bouquet

Be warned this is a huge posting, it's going to take a few minutes to scroll through a plethora of our snaps featuring some seriously spectacular and glorious flowers, some equally spectacularly beautiful people and some of the most spectacular venues on the Fylde, brace yourselves...
Firstly though let me share some of the back story with you, we first met up with Beth and her fabulous Mum Catherine a year or so ago, we all hit it off  immediately and I distinctly remember laughing all the way through that first meeting, we've had many meetings since, some were just Beth & I some were just Catherine & I and some with our Jason too, with mood boards to discuss,  sample bridal designs to see and just to go over some of the details, there really was a lot going on for this Wedding, inevitably after all of our chats we had a thorough understanding of their taste, their relaxed almost boho style, their love of flowers and the importance of family & friends.

We were looking forward to working alongside a stellar team of superb wedding professionals, all hand picked by Beth & Laurence, a team they knew would deliver the perfect day; Oscar Rowley & the team from Campbell & Rowley were looking after the catering and liaising with their spectacular and novel venue AKS where our couple first met, we had the huge pleasure of working with the lovely & brilliant Martin from Cahill Photography,  the fabulous Samantha Mercer & The Dollz Team who we knew would do the most wonderful job of the hair and make up, there was a gorgeous gown from the great folks Elizabeth & Camilla from Mears Ghyll Bridal Rooms and entertainment from the truly awesome The Dead Beats Party Band
~
At long last the big day arrived Lily & I were at the Bride's family home bright and early to present our bridal bouquets, we showed everyone how to carry their bouquets perfectly in our FD Events Bouquet tutorial we also introduce the Bride and her Bridesmaid's to the flowers in their bouquets explaining their particular significance and  preciousness!

Sun Kissed Beaches & Sea Side Style for Alex & Steven at Barton Grange Hotel

These two are just so super cool and had great ideas for their sea side themed wedding day, we loved their mood board it was a belter to work on, it included so much detail, loads of fresh ideas for a fabulous sun bleached sea side wedding day.
I feel at this point it's also important to note they had the best sound track including some of our all time favourites, not least Guardian's of the Galaxy sound track they came out of the ceremony to Blue Swede's Hooked on a Feeling (I don't mind admitting it alway's puts a smile on my face) some exceptional tracks from The Jam and loads more great tunes too.

We made them, as we always do a collection of designs created exclusively for Alex & Steven to suit their themes based on their beautifully put together mood board and their budget of course. We'd talked about a wild flower palette at our Mood board meeting so we'd put together a bouquet with Grasses, Daisies, Sea Thistles, Bumblebee Orchids, Love in the Mist and fragrant herbs, hidden amongst the fresh flowers we'd also decided to include some sea shells, only small ones but they added a beach feel and the kind of detail our FD team really love.
We included loads of gorgeous blooms with a relaxed 'Sand dunes' gathered vibe, the handle was bound with jute sacking and then tied up with blue gingham, the stem's were left exposed and some tiny seed pearls studded the handle.
We created a matching boutonniere for our Bride Groom Steven and included some well placed sea shells within his boutonniere, the stem was given the same treatment as the bridal bouquet handle to create a coordinated but not overtly 'matchy matchy' look
Lanterns and petals to line the aisle were shown at this appointment
A low table design suggestion created to utilise the Bridal bouquets, the vase was dressed with a Star fish and hessian
Our Enchanted Trees with hanging posies and fairylit branches

Along the length of the top table and Registrars tables we suggested a floral take on a 'Message in a Bottle' set on a reflective surface with shells and small pieces of driftwood
Jason was at Barton Grange early on the wedding day with an FD tissue lined box filled with floral fabulousness
Alex's super handsome Bride Groom Steven was first to have his beach inspired Boutonniere pinned to his lapel
Fresh Veronica, Sea Holly, Thalapsi,Sea Shells, Daisies and Albiflora Cotton Bush were gathered together to form the Bride Groom's Boutonniere
Jason pinned on all of the unique and individually created sea side inspired boutonnieres

Inside the ceremony room at Barton Grange the scene was set for the wedding ceremony, our sun bleached lanterns lined the aisle with fresh fragrant petals
Two of our magnificent Enchanted Trees framed the Registrars table perfectly

Collections of Hurricane Lanterns lined with sand, recycled bottles filled with fresh flowers, sea shells and drift wood dressed the Registrars table

The lovely Bridesmaids were wearing deep blue gowns and carried bouquets of Sea Holly, Veronica, Rose buds, Grasses, Love in the Mist, Daisies and Forget Me Nots

This was such a gorgeous wedding day filled with friends, family and copious amounts of love for this beautiful couple. We had a great time with the planning and though I missed their mood board appointment which Jason did, we managed to catch up remarkably well at our next appointment, their mood board was stupendous with bags of useful details and we couldn't wait to get started creating some gorgeous flowers for them.
We were lucky enough to be working with some great wedding professionals including a gorgeous Modeca gown from the great folks at Lulu Browns, make up by the super lovely Sonara Parker MUA, great hair by M Hair Studio in Thornton,  a superb wedding venue The Great Hall at Mains and the brilliant folks from Twelve Event Management providing the delicious catering, Typical Type had provided all of the atmospheric outdoor lighting at TGHM  also a mention for the lovely cake maker Nickie Thackwray who did a really splendid job.
So following a couple of meetings to discuss their mood board we got together again in our FD studio to present a set of sample designs
